New data shows the percentage of teens carrying guns in New York City is at an all-time low.
The Center for Disease Control found that fewer young people are armed in the New York than any other big city.
New York's percentage is even less than half the national average.
Washington D.C. has the highest percentage.
Compared to 2001, gun possession by teens across the country has declined.
In New York, the drop was 36 percent.
City Hall attributed the drop to target policing, such as the operations that focus on breaking up street crews.
The city also released a report showing there were 19 percent fewer murders in New York City during 2012 than the year before.
