A federal jury in Brooklyn found Abdel Hameed Shehadeh guilty on Monday of lying to the FBI about plans to engage in jihad against the United States in Pakistan.

Friends testified that Shehadeh, a former Staten Island resident, gave testimony that he spoke of wanting to die waging a holy war against the U.S. military abroad.

Shehadeh bought a one-way ticket to Islamabad in 2008 and told the FBI he was going to get religious training.

He now faces up to 21 years in prison.
