The family of the Brooklyn teenager who was gunned down by police earlier this month has renewed its call for an independent investigation.

Carol Gray, Kimani Gray's mother, and supporters said they don't trust the authorities after her son was killed by police on March 9.

She believes that a police investigation is overly dependent on its own sources.

"We want an independent investigation," Carol Gray said. "Just let the truth come out. We want justice. There will be peace if we have justice."

"Nobody, nobody believes the police version," said Brooklyn Councilman Charles Barron. "Nobody corroborates. Nobody says the same thing that the police said."

Police said Gray pointed a gun at them before they opened fire, but eyewitnesses have said they saw no weapon.

The officers in the case have been placed on administrative duty pending an investigation.

Some vigils for the 16-year-old in East Flatbush last week turned into violent skirmishes with police.
