The Harlem Children's Zone kicked off their 100 Days of Service Campaign Friday.

The group aims to create more than 100 community service projects during the first 100 days of Barack Obama's presidency.

"We're going to be the hardest hit in all of New York City because of this economic downturn, and we've got to get people to understand: it is our responsibility to help our neighbors," said Geoffrey Canada, president of the Harlem Children's Zone.

"It is important to be helping out because there are a lot of people on the street and they have nothing to eat and no money," said one young volunteer.

"It makes you feel happy, because I'm helping out people that have nothing," said another.
