A batch of concrete at the Freedom Tower is being replaced after it failed a strength test yesterday.

Crews removed the almost 50 cubic yards of weak concrete from the tower's foundation yesterday.

A Port Authority spokesman says no other batches of the 22,000 cubic yards of concrete poured so far have failed any tests.

The Freedom Tower is being built with concrete stronger than any other building in the city --about three times as strong as concrete required in residential construction.
