City Council Minority Leader James Oddo's tirade against a comedian has been made available on the web, and is getting mixed opinions from his Staten Island constituents.
The city's top Republican was set up by a Norwegian comedy show, using the same interviewing style as Ali G.
Oddo blew up at the interviewer after being asked racially and sexually charged questions about presidential candidates.
“Why the f* do you have me in with these f*ing people?” Oddo says on the tape. “Throw these f*ing people out of my office. Well get the f* outta here, get the f* out of my office, get out of my office what is this nonsense. Get the f* outta here!”
The councilman said he believed a serious news interview was being conducted. He says he's sorry for the tirade.
“My language was inappropriate, I'm apologetic for it, I regret it,” said Oddo. “I don't regret the sentiment. In fact, I think that people across the country will see that I reacted the same way any Staten Islander walking down Hylan Boulevard would have reacted.”
But Islanders are mixed on the topic.
"It's unprofessional for a man of his stature,” said one Staten Islander.
“I would have released all my feelings, too, at the time, and unfortunately if a little curse word came in maybe it hit the nail on the head that he wasn't enjoying what they were doing?” added another.
The video has had more then 17,000 views on You Tube.
