One of the four police officers cleared in the shooting death of Amadou Diallo has lost his bid to carry a gun.
A federal judge sided with the city Thursday and denied Kenneth Boss' request to be reinstated to a full-status police officer.
He sued the NYPD in March, claiming Police Commissioner Ray Kelly violated his constitutional rights.
In February of 1999, Boss and three other officers shot Diallo 41 times in the vestibule of his Bronx home. Boss fired five of those shots.
The other officers were also acquitted. Two joined the Fire Department and another has asked not to be reinstated.
