Former State Comptroller Alan Hevesi fired back at his successor, Thomas DiNapoli, and the state attorney general's office Friday.
Hevesi's new lawyer accuses them of participating in a "smear campaign" and leaking information.
The Albany district attorney and State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo are looking into whether Hevesi's sons and former aides benefited financially from Hevesi's control of the state's pension fund.
Earlier this month, DiNapoli said pension fund records disappeared after a top deputy to Hevesi resigned.
DiNapoli's office says it is cooperating with the investigation.
Hevesi resigned from office in December and pleaded guilty to using state employees to chauffeur his wife.
