The NYPD says there will be stepped up security when the three police officers accused in the Sean Bell shooting appear in court on Monday after one of the officers was threatened.
A gang leader apparently threatened to have a henchman kill Detective Mike Oliver during his hearing at Queens criminal court.
Police say they are investigating the claim, and there will be extra security around Oliver and the other officers.
Oliver, 35, is charged with manslaughter, reckless endangerment and assault after firing 31 of the 50 shots into the car Bell was driving. Detective Gescard Isnora is also charged with manslaughter.
Detective Marc Cooper is charged with the much less serious offense of reckless endangerment.
