Although the 2008 election is still more than a year and a half away, a crowded field of Democratic hopefuls will take the stage tonight for the first presidential debate of the campaign.

Front runners Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama and hometown favorite John Edwards will face off at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg against five other candidates in the earliest debate ever.

The Iraq war and education are among the topics to be discussed in the 90 minute debate.

Senators Joe Biden and Chris Dodd, Congressman Dennis Kucinich, Governor Bill Richardson and former Senator Mike Gravel are also scheduled to take part.

Each candidate has 60 seconds to respond to the questions. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
