It's been the final resting place for generations of New Yorkers and now the Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn is becoming a national landmark.

Last week, a city board voted to protect the view from the Statue of Minerva in the cemetery to the Statue of Liberty.

A 50-story building had been planned, which would have blocked the view between the two statues.

Now officials will work on a National Historic corridor from Battle Hill, where Minerva is erected to Liberty Island.
