A legal organization has awarded a lifetime achievement award to the head of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund.
Special Master Kenneth Feinberg received the award from the Association of Trial Lawyers of America at the group's annual convention in Boston.
United States Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer presented the award, saying that Feinberg has done a remarkable job with the fund.
Feinberg was appointed Special Master after the fund was established following the terror attacks. His duties, for which he has received no pay, involve determining how to best distribute financial compensation to the families of the 9/11 victims.
In doing so, he's also guided the fund through a number of controversies.
In the end the fund will pay out nearly $$7 billion to more than 5,500 people affected by the attacks.
