The city is trying to figure out how to rectify a mistake made last month by instructors administering the NYPD sergeant’s exam that may have been compromised the results.
More than 7,000 police officers took the exam on December 13th. The problem with the test stems from an incident at a testing center at Evander Childs High School in the Bronx.
A bell at that center went off 20 minutes early, leading some test-givers to end the exam prematurely. The test-takers were dismissed, then called back in to finish the exam when the mistake was realized.
Other officers who took the test complained, saying the mix-up gave those officers who were allowed back into the room to finish the exam a chance to discuss the answers before completing the test.
