A New York City staple returned Wednesday after a long absence, as Nedick's Hot Dogs opened for business in Penn Station.
The hot dog stands blanketed the city until the chain closed in the 1970's. The company’s ever popular orange drink is also back, along with various hot dogs from across the country.
Some new items like fried Twinkies and frozen cheesecake on a stick are also on the menu.
“It tastes good,” said one man. “It tastes like real beef, the mustard is great, and the relish is great.”
“They have different toppings like celery, tomatoes, mustard, onions and pickles. It’s pretty good,” said another customer.
Riese Restaurants, which bought the rights to the Nedick's name, says it decided to resurrect the fast food favorite because of its history in the city. The company says more Nedick’s are on the horizon.
