A funeral was held Friday for for teenage girl who died in a Manhattan apartment fire last week.

Friends and family remembered 15-year-old Melisa Mendez at a church service in Harlem.

Mendez died during an electrical fire that quickly spread through an apartment building in Hamilton Heights on August 18.

Pastor Jose Clavero of the Church of the Annunciation said she was a dedicated member of his church.

"She was a very wonderful student, always very positive and active, involved in everything, so the message is, you can be a teenager and still be a fantastic Christian, good person."

Melisa's body was flown to the Dominican Republic for burial.
