The city has reached a new contract agreement with the union representing school safety agents and special officers.

The deal—which still needs court approval—includes a settlement of a pending lawsuit and ensures more than 5,000 school safety officers will receive full pay equity by the end of the contract term.

The suit contends school safety officers, who are predominantly female, were making $7,000 less per year than special officers.

With the deal, the mayor's office says 62 percent of city workers now either have a contract or tentative contract agreements. ClientIP:,, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
