Cardinal Timothy Dolan says he'd love to have Pope Francis visit New York City.

The pope spoke briefly about the possibility on Monday during his flight home from a visit to South Korea.

Dolan supported the idea outside an interfaith roundtable meeting with city officials.

"I'm sure hoping, and I've done everything I can to encourage him and to assure him of a warm welcome," Dolan said. "So we leave the rest up to the Lord and to him."

Pope Francis also said he'd be interested in visiting Philadelphia or Washington, D.C.
