A Long Island man has been charged with attempted murder as a hate crime for allegedly running over a member of the Sikh community in Queens.

Sandeep Singh, 29, is in critical condition at the hospital, but police say he is improving.

Police say back on July 30, 55-year-old Joseph Caleca hit Singh with his pickup truck in Ozone Park, and then dragged him several feet before fleeing.

Witnesses say Singh and the driver got into an argument before the incident.

Caleca is also charged with felony assault as a hate crime. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
