Time Warner Cable participated in a job fair for military veterans.
The event came as part of a push by the company to hire more men and women who have served.
The company says more than one thousand marines gathered in the Marriott Marquis Saturday afternoon to network and learn about opportunities.
One company representative, who is a veteran himself, says taking part in the initiative gives him a sense of pride.
"It's nice that they can have a place to come to, and our organization values the skills and commitment that they've already shown in service and they believe they can translate to jobs that we have to offer here," said Time Warner Cable's Edward Diamantis.
"Things like these are very beneficial to anyone in the military just because if you forgot or don't remember about any opportunities that you have everyone here is here to refresh your memory," said Marine Corps Reservist Matthew Ragen.
Time Warner Cable is the parent company of NY1.
