The Kingsbridge National Ice Center has a big new investor.

Former Ranger great and Kingsbridge CEO Mark Messier announced that The Kresge Foundation is investing in the center.

Kresge is a $3.5-billion private national foundation that works to expand opportunities in America's cities through grants.

Messier says this further validates their mission to help revitalize Kingsbridge and the Bronx.
A couple of months ago there were reports that the project may be in jeopardy due to a split between members of the group in charge.

When completed, this will be the world's largest ice center.

It will consist of a $750,000 square foot complex will consist of 9 ice rinks, a 5,000-seat arena, a 50,000-square foot community center, and a health and training facility.

The Kingsbridge Armory has sat vacant for more than two decades.

It's slated to be completed in 2017. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
