The Rev. Al Sharpton will head to Missouri Tuesday in support of the family of a teen who was shot dead by police.
Tensions are running high in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, where authorities say an unarmed 18-year-old named Michael Brown was gunned down during a scuffle with an officer Saturday.
The incident sparked a riot Sunday night.
Sharpton released a statement saying he's traveling to the area at the request of Brown's family.
This comes as the FBI says it's investigating possible civil rights violations in connection with the shooting.
Attorney General Eric Holder said he will assist Ferguson police with their investigation, not supersede it.
