A community is mourning the loss of a baby boy who fell out the window of a Bronx home over the weekend.

Police say Nayvem Santos, 2, fell from a seventh floor apartment window and onto a second floor landing just before 4:20 a.m. Sunday.

It happened at a building located at 691 Gerard Avenue in Concourse.

The little boy was pronounced dead at Lincoln Hospital.

Community members are vowing to stick by the family in this time of grief.

"The community is here for you. For everyone to see the father walk past us and to stop in place. It seems like the world just came to a pause," said one resident.

"Everybody's in tears, everybody's crying, the baby was a wonderful, very smart kid for two years old. Fun, funny, laughable. You know what I mean it hurts," said another resident.

Police are still investigating the death, but at this time, they don't believe any crime was committed.

They say the child's grandmother was in a separate room sleeping when he fell. ClientIP:,, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
