In the wake of Eric Garner's death, the city's Civilian Complaint Review Board says it's investigating chokehold claims across the city.

The Board's newly named chairman Richard Emery says there have been more than 1,100 choke hold allegations against the NYPD in the last five years.

He says CCRB is currently actively investigating 10 different claims.

Emery says the board's goal is to work with the NYPD to eliminate such complaints.

"And we're going to look at the ways that we hope we can better advise the police department to enforce the patrol guide standards, which prohibits any action which may interfere with breathing," says Emery.

Emery says he hopes to release a report on their findings by the end of the month.
He also says the board is developing an app that will allow New Yorkers to file complaints from their mobile devices.
