A worker is dead following a construction accident near the base of the Throgs Neck Bridge.
Fire officials say the accident happened just before 8 a.m. Tuesday outside the administration building on the Bronx side of the span.
According to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, crews were unloading a cabinet full of electrical equipment when it fell off the pallet, killing the worker.
"We had a contractor who was working on a project here at the Throgs Neck Bridge who was killed by a piece of equipment," said MTA Spokesperson Adam Lisberg. "It was a couple of people who were helping move this piece of equipment, and he was unfortunately killed as the piece of equipment fell."
Traffic in the area appeared to be unaffected by this incident.
