A Queens neighborhood ravaged by Hurricane Sandy could soon be awarded a multi-million dollar federal grant to help with the recovery.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency this week approved a feasibility study to examine a $58.2 million project that includes building a double dune on the ocean-side section of Breezy Point.
Officials also want to construct a seawall and other barriers along the bay to prevent flooding and erosion.
Breezy Point is located on the western edge of the Rockaway Peninsula, and was one of the hardest hit areas during Sandy.
More than 350 homes were lost because of fire and flooding.
