More horses are coming to Central Park—but this time, they won't be pulling carriages.
This fall, for the first time ever, the park will host a major equestrian competition from September 18 to 21.
Mounted police took part in an event announcing the show.
It's scheduled to take place in New York for seven years.
"Well I think it's a fantastic event. It's a perfect spotlight for this event to be held in Central Park—one of the most vibrant places of our city, at one of the most beautiful times of the year," said Christopher Heywood, Senior Vice President of Global Communications for NYC & Company.
"This is something that's going to grow over time, but I do believe that we will—that this has the potential to turn into probably the top show on a world circuit," said Equestrian Sport Productions CEO Mark Bellissimo.
Tickets go on sale August 4.
