A driver was killed and at least five others were hospitalized Sunday after a minivan overturned in Queens.
Police say the driver, Anthony Boyd, 45, of Queens, jumped the curb on 21st Street in Astoria then hit the fire hydrant.
At some point, the minivan overturned.
Good samaritans rushed to the scene and helped remove victims from the car.
"I mean you've seen good out of it, you've seen people that actually like cared to stop their cars and jump on top of the car and pull people out and people running out of buildings and coming from everywhere to help and see what was going on," said one witness.
The four passengers were related to the driver, including two children.
All of them suffered non-life threatening injuries.
One pedestrian was also struck by flying debris.
Police say it appears the driver had some sort of medical issue that led to the accident.
