A Brooklyn woman plead not guilty to second-degree murder charges after Suffolk County police identified the remains of a partially dismembered body found earlier this month.

Leah Cuevas, 42, is being held without bail.

She's due back in court on Monday.

Prosecutors say the victim is 27-year-old Chinelle Browne from Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Her body was originally found in a parking lot in Bay Shore on July 8. More body parts were discovered in Hempstead over the next two weeks.

Neighbors tell NY1 Browne and Cuevas lived together, but Browne was ready to move out over a utility bill.

"She was like, 'Well every time I come here my lights is out. Why is my lights out? I'm giving you $200. I'm tired of this I'm gonna move out,'" said neighbor Donald Watson.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Browne's death. ClientIP:,, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
