The Port Authority has elected a new chairman.
Former New Jersey Attorney General John Degnan was nominated by Governor Chris Christie and confirmed by the State Senate on July 10.
The Port Authority oversees the region's major airports and seaports, as well as Hudson River rail and road crossings, and the World Trade Center site.
Degnan has a background in private sector business.
The Port Authority Chief Executive says he is looking forward to working with Degnan, saying: “Chairman Degnan’s rare combination of broad business experience, dedication to public service and deep understanding of the Port Authority’s unique role and mission makes him the right person for this position at the right time.”
