A roll down gate collapsed, prompting a building evacuation in Manhattan Tuesday morning.

Fire officials say the gate pulled free from the building on Adam Clayton Powell Junior Boulevard in Harlem at around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

As it fell, a portion of the sidewalk collapsed into the basement.

The building was evacuated as a precaution and the Department of Buildings was called in to inspect.
