Macy's has settled a lawsuit with a shopper who claims he was racially profiled at its flagship store in Herald Square.
Actor Rob Brown says he was accused of credit card fraud and detained in the store after purchasing a $1,300 watch last summer.
Brown, who is African-American, was not charged with any crime and was released.
His lawyer has not commented on the case, but Macy's released a statement, saying, in part, "Our company strictly prohibits discrimination of any kind and has zero tolerance for racial profiling. We value every customer who chooses to shop at Macy's, and we remain committed to ensuring that every individual who steps into our store feels welcome and appreciated."
The exact terms of the settlement have not been released.
