The Wildlife Conservation Society is encouraging New Yorkers to slither over to any of the city's four zoos in celebration of World Snake Day Wednesday.

There are more than 50 different species of snake on display between the Bronx, Queens, Prospect Park, and Central Park zoos.

They include the king cobra, the world's largest venomous snake, which can grow up to 18 feet long.

Scientists have identified more than 3,400 species of snakes worldwide.
