Family and friends held a vigil Sunday to remember an 11-month-old baby whose mother is accused of killing him.

Candles were lit for Kiam Felix Junior outside his house in Elmhurst.

Prosecutors say his mother, Nicole Kelly, 22, smothered him with a sheet last week.

They say she told prosecutors that she was overwhelmed and snapped.

Kelly's sister, Tanisha Gordon, says she saw no indication of anything wrong in the days leading up to the boy's death.

"I saw her prior, like two days prior to this happening and she was happy. Like maybe I missed, I didn't see someone, but she was happy, and he was happy. He was crawling and laughing as usual," Gordon said.

"Angry, I just, I don't know how to feel. It's like a feeling of nothingness, because he was so wonderful," said Sonny Southerland Senior, the child's grandfather.

Kiam would have been a year old in just a few weeks.

His mother is charged with second degree murder.
