The last original member of the legendary punk group The Ramones has died.

Tommy Ramone—originally named Erdelyi Tamas—died Friday of cancer of the bile duct.

He started his career working on Jimi Hendrix's Band of Gypsies.

In the 1970s, he linked up with Johnny, Dee Dee, and Joey to become their manager.

He eventually became their drummer—playing on, and co-producing their first three albums.

He left the band in 1978, and went on to drum and produce for other acts.
