Carmelo Anthony is apparently staying in New York.
At this time, it looks likely that the free agent will return to the Knicks, but a final decision has not been made.
The team offered Melo a maximum contract worth $129 million over five years.
No other team could offer him as much, but he has had meetings with the Bulls and the Lakers.
People who spoke with NY1 say they would be happy to have Melo back in the Knicks lineup.
"I think it would be a good thing for the city. He's a very good player and hopefully he can bring a championship home," said one New Yorker.
"Awesome, I think he's a phenomenal player one of the best players in the NBA I'm really glad he's gonna stay. I mean if he stays I'll be really glad," said another New Yorker.
The seven time all-star came to the Knicks from Denver in 2011.
Anthony won a scoring title in 2013 and came in second place last year.
