The city's branch of the Legal Aid Society has a new leader.
Seymour James Jr. will now serve as attorney-in-chief of the nation's oldest nonprofit organization.
He's been with the group since 1974.
The Legal Aid Society helps provide free legal assistance to the poor and files lawsuits concerning the rights of the homeless, juveniles and other groups.
James succeeds Steven Banks, who's now the commissioner of the city's Human Resources Administration.
