The man accused of stabbing two children in a Brooklyn elevator appears before a judge Wednesday.

Lawyers for 27-year-old Michael St. Hubert submitted a not guilty plea at his arraignment.

They asked the judge for an extension in order to pursue a possible psychiatric defense in the case.

St. Hubert is facing second degree murder, attempted murder and third degree assault charges.

Six-year-old P.J. Avitto and his friend, seven-year-old Mikayla Capers, were both stabbed at a public housing building in East New York on June 1.

P.J. was killed—Mikayla was critically injured and is now recovering at home. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
