An adult and child are being treated for injuries after being shot in Coney Island, while police search for their shooter.

Police believe a man seen in a surveillance photo shot a 10-year-old along with a 25-year-old man on Mermaid Avenue and 23rd Street around 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The boy was shot in the knee and the man in the torso.

Officials say they are both are being treated in the hospital and expected to survive.

NY1 spoke to some people with concerns about the safety of the neighborhood.

"I mean, it is ridiculous because there is a lot of little kids that walk the streets and—innocent little kids at that so we don't know," said one area resident.

"This has been happening so many years, it's never going to stop—out here, never going to stop. You got different people coming in and going...crazy," another said.

Investigators say the two victims did not know each other.
