Pride weekend kicked off Friday with a rally in TriBeCa.
People of all ages came out for the second annual party at Hudson River Park's Pier 26.
Betty Who and Sharon Needles were among those who took the stage.
NY1 talked with some excited party-goers.
"Pride means the ability to celebrate whoever you are, to celebrate what everyone in your community is and what they want to be," said one attendee. "I think that that's a wonderful way to be, and I think it is a really beautiful thing to celebrate, especially in New York, where there are so many different types of people."
"I just came to see the show for the first time with my friends and enjoy the pride with all the wonderful people in New York City," said another.
"It's progress, and it's celebration of what's come and what is still to come, and the road has been paved for us by so many brave people, and it's continuing to pave the way to progress for the rest of society," said a third.
Events are scheduled throughout the weekend, including Sunday's big Pride March in Manhattan.
