There's a new addition to the seven-member-Golden Lion Tamarin family at the Prospect Park Zoo.
The Tamarin's birth is exciting, not only because of its cute factor, but because the species is listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
The breeding is part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' Species Survival Plan, a program designed to ensure stability of animal populations in zoos.
Golden Lion Tamarins are small monkeys native to the Atlantic rainforests of Brazil. They stand at just about 10 inches tall and are the largest of their breed.
