Family and friends of the cousins who drowned in the Bronx River visited the site where the tragedy happened.

Classmates remembered 13-year-olds Erickson Villa and Willington Gabin as polite kids who liked to have fun.

Both went missing after going into the water for a swim Friday. Villa died shortly after being pulled out.

Gabin died Sunday.

Local leaders are asking for city and state officials to come together in order to make the area safer.

They say a fence and signs in both English and Spanish could have prevented a tragic loss of life.

"One of the things that we've been asking and asking for the past two years is that they put a fence along the edge of the park on top. And whatever agencies are involved in that, we ask that they hurry up and do this. At any moment, a small child can disappear from a parents hand and run right into the water because this is open space," said Rev. Joel Bauza of Calvary Church.

Community leaders are also asking for donations so the families can bury the boys in their native Dominican Republic.
