The host country clinched a spot in the second round of the World Cup Monday.

Brazil beat Cameroon 4-1 to win Group A and advance to the knockout stage.

Cameroon is eliminated.

Mexico also advanced to the second round, beating Croatia 3-1 to claim second place in Group A.

Croatia is also eliminated.

Earlier, the Netherlands beat Chile 2-0 to win Group B.

Both teams had already clinched a spot in the next round.

The Netherlands will now face Mexico, while Chile will play Brazil in the round of 16.

NY1 caught up with some Chile fans in Midtown--who despite their team's loss say they're excited about how the team is playing and looking forward to the next round.

"The game was wonderful," said one fan. "I know that Chile is going to the second round."

"We are a great team, and we are here at the World Cup of Brazil to do the best we can, and we want to be champions," said another Chile fan.

"It was a rough match," said a third Chile fan. "I think we played incredibly well, and we missed a couple of chances, but I think Chile has a great opportunity to really make it very far in this tournament."

In a game between two already-eliminated teams, Spain defeated Australia 3-0.
