Spectators wore the red and white of Peru's flag as the city's first Peruvian parade made its way through Jackson Heights on Sunday.
Organizers said the city is home to the nation's third-largest Peruvian community, and that the event was a great opportunity to show off its pride.
"This is the first Peruvian parade that we were working with the NYPD since last year. We got it in less than 10 days. This is our best that we did," said Rodolfo Flores, president of the International Peruvian Festival. "It seems to me that the next year is going to be the best."
The parade's route followed 37th Avenue from 69th Street to 86th Street.
