A sanitation worker is dead following a freak accident on the job in Queens.

The Sanitation Department says 43-year-old Steven Frosch was working on a mechanical sweeper in a Sanitation Garage in Maspeth when he was pinned by another sweeper.

The department says the driver of the other sweeper did not see Frosch.

In a statement, the department sent its condolences to the victim's family and said, "'Sanitation work is very dangerous and difficult work and we appreciate those who accept the call to duty."

A 15-year veteran of the Sanitation Department, Frosch leaves behind a wife and four kids.
