Restaurants in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn and the Lower East Side are serving up their signature dishes and drinks in a "grub crawl" this weekend. NY1's Jamie Stelter filed the following report.

Delicious food, unique cocktails and even some culture. Bon Appetit's third annual Grub Crawl kicks off Saturday morning at Coco in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, where chef Charlie Statelman is looking forward to serving up some of his signature brunch dishes. He's even more excited that Greenpoint has become a food destination.

"There's a whole new generation of restaurateurs and chefs moving into this neighborhood," Statelman says. "The competition is healthy, and it's driving this neighborhood.

After Coco, ticket holders cruise through four other restaurants in Greenpoint, where they're encouraged to eat, drink and Instagram as much as they can. That includes the DIY bloody Mary bar.

In the evening, a second crawl takes place on Manhattan's Lower East Side, with five restaurants chosen based on the diversity of their cuisine.

Pig and Khao's Leah Cohen said people love to learn about what they're eating and who's preparing it.
"You get to try all these different venues, and you get to interact with the chefs or the bartender, whoever is there, and you get to sample a lot of really delicious things," Cohen says.

Cohen is the only woman chef and restaurateur on the crawl, and she is one of only a handful of chefs in the city to combine Thai and Filipino influences with her sizzling Thai-style chicken wings that have been breaded twice to her sweet and spicy barbecue baby backs served with slaw.

If you'd like to attend, tickets for either crawl are are $149 and are available at ClientIP:,, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
