Police are asking for the public's help identifying a man wanted for assaulting an NYPD traffic agent.

They released surveillance video of the suspect.

Investigators say the assault happened on 13th Street between Broadway and University Place in Greenwich Village two weekends ago.

They say the agent was sitting in a police car early Saturday morning when the suspect began cursing at him, tried to grab his shield and then spat at him.

When the agent got out the car, police say the suspect punched him.

He then ran inside a nearby club and escaped out the back door.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
