A man is in police custody after a stabbing in Queens that left his brother dead and mother injured.
According to investigators, the suspect stabbed his 25-year-old brother and 46-year-old mother in a Springfield Gardens home.
Both victims were stabbed multiple times in the torso.
The woman is said to be in stable condition.
The attack happened just after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Neighbors said this kind of violence makes them worry about the safety of their community, especially if it can happen in broad daylight.
"It's very frightening, and it's a concern because you could be out here with the kids and anything could have happened at any given moment, not knowing the nature of a person's mind," said one neighbor. "So it's a little frightening to me."
Investigators say the 27-year-old suspect also stabbed himself in the leg.
He's being treated at Jamaica Hospital.
He has not yet been charged.
