The New York Times is endorsing Adriano Espaillat in his bid to unseat Rep. Charles Rangel.

The Times says Rangel, who served in Washington for 44 years, has been losing power in the Capitol after getting censured by Congress four years ago.

The paper's editorial board says Espaillat has been fighting for important causes at the state level and would do a better job representing the 13th Congressional District.

Editors say Espaillat is more likely to unseat Rangel than their other opponent, Michael Walrond Jr.

A NY1 poll on the race will be released during Inside City Hall at 7 p.m.
