A funeral was held Wednesday for the man killed outside a Staten Island bar on the same day that the man accused of punching and killing him was arraigned.
Stephen Fasano, 23, appeared in court Wednesday, where he pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and assault charges.
Police say Fasano punched Abdou Salam Cisse in front of the Drunken Monkey bar early Sunday morning, knocking his head onto the pavement.
A judge released Fasano on $50,000 bond, which upset Cisse's friends and family, who were in the courtroom.
"I mean, Abdou Salam is being flown back home. His mother is going to open a coffin to see her son. In the meantime, this gentleman is going to be let loose," said Mohamed Bah, a friend of the victim. "Come on. How could he grant bail to someone that has killed someone?"
Earlier in the day, friends and family gathered in Harlem , where they remembered Cisse as one of the kindest people they knew.
Cisse's body was flown back to his native Senegal for burial.
He was 46 years old.
