It's been five years since the city's first elevated park started welcoming visitors.
The first section of the High Line opened in 2009.
To mark the occasion, the nonprofit Friends of the High Line is hosting a pie social at the park's 14th Street Passage.
Pie and lemonade will be served at this free event at 5 p.m.
Thousands of guests and tour groups have visited the park since its opening. It's also played host to community art projects and volunteer programs.
The High Line's second section opened in 2011.
The final stretch is under construction in conjunction with the Hudson Yards project and is expected to open later this year.
